Paths to Publishing Panel at Redcliffe Library 30th November 2018
You’ve written the darn thing. You think its got legs. What now? You have to be famous or know someone in the business to get published, don’t you?
NO! I had no claim to fame, no writing degree, and no connections yet managed to be plucked from the slush pile by the biggest publisher in the world. So can you!
If you’re sitting on the next THE DRY and don’t quite know what to do with it, come along to Redcliffe Library to chat with myself and a few other fine people from Brisbane Book Authors – a group of published authors who want to share their experiences in the publishing industry. What are the pros and cons of Independent (self) publishing? Do you need an agent and how do you get one? Is traditional publishing on the way out, and can you do both? What is a slush pile and how do you get to the top of it? All these questions and more will be covered in this free panel event.
FREE Panel – Paths to Publishing, being held at Redcliffe Library Friday evening 30th November 2018 6:30 – 7:30pm (doors open at 6pm for wine and cheese). What could be a better way to kick off your weekend?
NOT QUITE AT THAT STAGE?
If you haven’t gotten far into that manuscript yet but feel compelled to write and don’t know where to start, perhaps join us for a quick course at Arana Hills Library. Tickets are FREE but bookings are essential.
This is being held Tuesday evening 23rd October 2018, 6:00 – 7:30pm. This was my local library growing up so it’s fabulous to be returning to talk books. We’ll cover the basics like show don’t tell (and how to avoid doing both), passive writing, the importance of verbs, and things to avoid.
